Pip & Peach

A rustic identity for a homeware business.

Pip & Peach is a small, home-run business which produces and sells handmade candles. Before launching the business in November 2020, founder Pippa approached Seven and Co. Studio in need of a full brand identity to be used to both promote the brand on social media, and be used on the product itself, and it's packaging.

stage 1 // strategy

Before starting on the visuals, we first aided Pippa with the name for the business, brainstorming a range of names which incorporated Pippa's name while still subtly referencing the product through one of her potential scent choices. Pippa's vision for the brand identity was for it to have a rustic, vintage inspired feel, meaning that the candle products with the branded labels would fit into any style of home. To do this, we decided to create a simple, illustrative logo suite based on a peach plant, along with a natural inspired colour palette - including, of course, the colour peach.

stage 2 //
inspiration and exploration

The inspiration collected focused on other vintage inspired, rustic-feeling logos which included botanical elements. To keep the branding simplistic, the decision was made to create a line illustration made up of organic, hand-drawn line work which could also be filled in if needed. After extensive exploration, a simple rounded serif font was chosen for the logotype, along with a palette of neutrals, green and peach tones.

stage 3 //
final outcome

The final outcome achieves the rustic, homely feel that Pippa was hoping for. The illustration created lends itself well to a range of logo variations, including pill and circular compositions. A different variation and colour way was used for each packaging application to help build an extensive brand identity, which is both effective in communication the brand personality, and also attractive as a homeware product - while giving the consumer something to be excited by when they interact with different elements of the brand.

stage 4 // impact

Following the success of the business over the last 8 months, it can be concluded that the brand design is fit for purpose, effectively enabling the promotion of the products, and acting a part of the product itself in the candle labels. Pippa has received great feedback on the attractiveness of the packaging and label designs on the products, which demonstrates the importance of good branding for product based businesses, especially when the branding will constitute part of the product and/or the consumer experience.
